Meet Alissa Crandall
Hello, I'm Alissa, owner and birth professional of Birth Strong Doula Services. My passion has evolved from the natural tendencies of caring for and supporting others, to offering assistance to families during one of the most life-changing experiences.
As the mother of 4 children (and 3 babies in heaven), I have grown through the challenges of parenting, as well as, the incredible births of my children. I wished I had more labor/birth support with my own births. It was then that I decided to focus my energy on exploring a career in becoming a professional birth worker. In 2018 I stumbled upon a doula training. I have since trained and certified with several organizations in the birthing world and pride myself in continuing my education. I trained and work through the Brookings hospital and enjoy serving families in Central South Dakota.
The best part of being a birth professional is witnessing the growth in confidence as a family learns their choices, build their ideal birth team, and achieve a positive birthing experience. It is truly heartwarming being asked to follow a family's journey and seeing their love grow as they welcome a new little life into the world.
In my spare time I enjoy photography, baking, kayaking, star gazing, and traveling.
Alissa spent the first year after training as a volunteer doula in the Brookings health system to further educate herself. She has attended 50+ births. Education is a huge priority to her and her business practices and you’ll notice below even more of her qualifications.
